Simple steps to replace the battery in your 4Runner's keyless entry remote
Inside of your keyless entry remote installed tiny coin cell battery. Unscrew the back of the remote key fob. Spin the key fob over and look for at least one fastener holding in the plastic.
Delicately try to disassemble your key fob with hands or flat head screwdriver. Change 1 CR2025 battery with flat head screwdriver.
Replace old battery with fresh one CR2025. Battery must be placed with the same polarity as was an old. Your key fob will not work if you by mistake put battery wrong way.
When the new battery installed, verify keyless entry remote by pressing buttons. If all functions works, assemble your fob’s case in reverse order.
The last thing to do is put your cover back on fob. Gently try to put the pieces in place by hands from top to bottom. Inspect your keyless entry remote shell for gaps. If it is not firmly closed try to repeat last step. Screw fastener in the back of the keyless entry remote.
