How to Open Your 1996 Volkswagen Golf Key Fob and Change Battery

Key fob allow access to your Volkswagen. When the key fob battery is dead or weak you’ll lose your fob’s ability to use distance opportunities. It's not difficult to change the battery in your key fob DIY. All you need is described below.

Replacing batteries in remote key fob require two CR2016 batteries and flat head screwdriver. Prepare these materials and tools before opening and make sure to match the size of your fob’s batteries.- flat head screwdriver

Step by step guide
A coin cell battery installed inside the your remote key fob. Carefully try to open your keyless entry remote with flat head screwdriver. Remove CR2016 batteries with flat head screwdriver.
Change old batteries with fresh one CR2016. Every battery has a negative and positive side and if you put the wrong connector down, the current cannot go into your circuit board and make it work. Check position on battery, by "+" mark.
After the new batteries installed, check remote key fob by pressing buttons. If everything is functioning, assemble your keyless entry fob's case in reverse order.
The last thing to do is put your cover back on fob. Carefully try to put the pieces in place by hands from top to bottom. Check your remote key fob shell for gaps. If it is not firmly closed try to repeat last step.
