How to Open Your 1998 Mercury Sable Key Fob & Change Battery

Before going to open remote key fob be sure that you have all required tools and materials: flat head screwdriver and one CR2032 battery.- 1xCR2032 battery

Simple steps to change the battery in your Sable's keyless entry remote
A small button cell battery installed inside the your remote key fob. Delicately try to disassemble your key fob with flat head screwdriver. Remove one CR2032 battery with flat head screwdriver.
Replace old battery with new one CR2032. Every battery has a negative and positive side and if you put the wrong connector down, the charge cannot go into your circuit board and make it work. Check polarity on battery, by "+" mark.
After the new battery installed, verify keyless entry remote by pressing buttons. If all functions works, assemble your fob’s shell in reverse order.
At this point squeeze keyless entry fob's back cover together. Line your case two halves together and put it together by hands from top to bottom. Check your keyless entry remote body for gaps. If it is not firmly closed try to repeat last step.
