How to Open Your 2000 Toyota MR2 Key Fob and Change Battery

Before going to disassembly keyless entry remote be sure that you have all recommended tools and materials: flat head screwdriver, 1 CR2025 battery and phillips head screwdriver.- flat head screwdriver

Simple steps to replace the battery in your car's key fob
Inside of your keyless entry remote installed coin cell battery. Remove fasteners on the back of the keyless entry remote. Spin the key fob over and look for at least 1 screw holding in the plastic.
Carefully try to open your remote key fob with flat head screwdriver. Replace CR2025 battery with flat head screwdriver.
Now it's time to install new battery inside fob’s shell. Every battery has a negative and positive side and if you put the wrong connector down, the current cannot go into your circuit board and make it work. Check polarity on battery, by "+" mark.
When the new battery installed, check key fob by pressing buttons. If everything is functioning, assemble your keyless entry fob's case in reverse order.
The last thing to do is put your cover back on fob. Gently try to put the two halves together by hands from top to bottom. Inspect your fob case for gaps. If it is not tightly closed try to repeat last step. Screw fastener in the back of the keyless entry remote.
