How to Open Your 2001 Volkswagen Beetle Key Fob & Change Battery
Key fob grant easy access to your auto. Once the remote key fob battery is discharged you will lose your fob’s ability to use distance opening function. Below, you’ll benefit from knowing how to open your keyless entry remote and change a weak battery yourself. What kind of battery key fob require
Before going to open keyless entry remote make sure that you have all required tools and materials: flat head screwdriver and 2xCR1620 batteries.- flat head screwdriver

Simple steps to change the battery in your car's keyless entry remote
A tiny button cell battery installed inside the your remote key fob. Open key first, and then try to pry apart the key fob.
Delicately try to pry apart your key fob with flat head screwdriver. Remove 2xCR1620 batteries with flat head screwdriver.
Replace old batteries with new one CR1620. Every battery has a negative and positive side and if you put the wrong connector down, the current cannot go into your circuit board and make it work. Check position on battery, by "+" mark.
Before assembling fob’s case, check that all functions works by pressing buttons on circuit board.
The last thing to do is put your cover back on fob. Gently try to put the two halves in place by hands from top to bottom. Inspect your key fob case for gaps. If it is not tightly closed try to repeat last step.
