How to Open Your 2003 Toyota Highlander Key Fob & Change Battery

In this article, we demonstrate how to disassembly Toyota keyless entry remote and change a weak or dead battery yourself. If you decide to do it at home near Highlander, use this instruction, but first make sure you have everything you need before you start.

Step by step instruction
Inside of your key fob installed tiny button cell battery. Remove screw on the back of the remote key fob. Spin the remote key fob over and find for at least one screw holding in the plastic.
Delicately try to disassemble your key with pry tools. Change one CR2025 battery with flat head screwdriver.
Change old battery with new one CR2025. Every battery has a negative and positive side and if you put the wrong connector down, the charge cannot go into your circuit board and make it work. Check position on battery, by "+" mark.
Before assembling fob’s case, make sure that all working properly by pressing buttons on key fob.
At this point squeeze fob’s back cover together. Line your body two halves together and put it in place by hands from top to bottom. Inspect your fob body for gaps. If it is not tightly closed try to repeat last step. Screw the back of the remote key fob.
