How to Open Your 2004 Ford Explorer Key Fob & Change Battery

If your auto key is no longer open doors properly, the battery more likely needs to be replaced. Below, we described how to disassembly your car keyless entry remote and replace your Ford key battery.
What kind of battery keyless entry remote require
Before starting disassembly remote key fob check all that you need: CR2032 battery and flat head screwdriver.- flat head screwdriver
- 1xCR2032 battery
Simple steps to change the battery in your Explorer's remote key fob
A small coin battery installed inside the your keyless entry remote. Gently try to open your keyless entry remote with pry tools. Replace one CR2032 battery with flat head screwdriver.
Change old battery with fresh one CR2032. Battery must be placed with the same position as was an old. Your key will not work if you mistakenly place battery wrong way.
After the new battery installed, check remote key fob functionality by pressing buttons. If all functions works, assemble your fob’s shell in reverse order.
The last thing to do is put your cover back on fob. Gently try to assemble the pieces in place by hands from top to bottom. Inspect your key fob shell for gaps. If it is not firmly closed try to repeat last step.
