Before you start to disassembly keyless entry remote check all that you need: flat head screwdriver and 1 CR2032 battery.- 1xCR2032 battery

Simple steps to replace the battery in your Grand Am's keyless entry remote
Inside of your keyless entry remote installed button cell battery. Delicately try to open your key with pry tools. Remove 1xCR2032 battery with flat head screwdriver.
Replace old battery with new one CR2032. Every battery has a negative and positive side and if you put the wrong connector down, the current cannot go into your circuit board and make it work. Check position on battery, by "+" mark.
When the new battery installed, verify keyless entry remote by pressing buttons. If all functions works, assemble your keyless entry fob's case in reverse order.
The last thing to do is put your cover back on fob. Accurately try to assemble the two halves in place by hands from top to bottom. Inspect your remote key fob body for gaps. If it is not tightly closed try to repeat last step.
