Simple steps to change the battery in your MX-5 Miata's key fob
A tiny coin cell battery installed in the your key fob. Remove any internal key first, and then try to pry apart the key fob.
Delicately try to open your keyless entry remote with flat head screwdriver. Replace one CR2025 battery with flat head screwdriver.
Get new battery and install it in keyless entry fob's shell. Every battery has a negative and positive side and if you put the wrong connector down, the current cannot go into your circuit board and make it work. Check polarity on battery, by "+" mark.
After the new battery installed, verify remote key fob functionality by pressing buttons. If everything working fine, assemble your keyless entry fob's body in reverse order.
The last thing to do is put your cover back on fob. Gently try to put the pieces together by hands from top to bottom. Inspect your key fob body for gaps. If it is not tightly closed try to repeat last step.
