How to Replace the Battery in a 2007 Toyota Matrix Key Fob

If your auto keyless entry remote isn't open doors properly, the battery more likely needs to be changed. In this case, you’ll benefit from knowing how to open your key fob and replace a dead or weak battery yourself. If you choose to do it at home near Matrix, use this instruction, but first make sure you have tools and materials required.

Before going to open keyless entry remote check all that you need: phillips head screwdriver, 1xCR2032 battery and flat head screwdriver.- 1xCR2032 battery

Step by step guide
Inside of your key fob installed small button cell battery. Unscrew the back of the keyless entry remote. Spin the remote key fob over and look for at least one screw holding in the plastic.
Gently try to disassemble your key with hands or flat head screwdriver. Change 1 CR2032 battery with flat head screwdriver.
Get new battery and install it in fob’s body. Every battery has a negative and positive side and if you put the wrong connector down, the current cannot go into your circuit board and make it work. Check position on battery, by "+" mark.
When the new battery installed, check key fob functionality by pressing buttons. If everything working properly, assemble your keyless entry fob's case in reverse order.
At this point squeeze fob’s back cover together. Line your shell pieces together and assemble it together by hands from top to bottom. Check your key fob case for gaps. If it is not firmly closed try to repeat last step. Screw fastener in the back of the keyless entry remote.
