Before you start to open key fob make sure that you have all recommended tools and materials: flat head screwdriver and one CR1620 battery.- 1xCR1620 battery

Simple steps to replace the battery in your Outback's remote key fob
A small coin battery installed inside the your remote key fob. Gently try to disassemble your keyless entry remote with pry tools. Replace one CR1620 battery with flat head screwdriver.
Get new battery and install it in fob’s shell. Be sure to connect the battery the right way around in a circuit. Your key will not work if you put battery wrong way.
Before assembling keyless entry fob's case, check that all functions works by testing buttons on keyless entry remote.
The last thing to do is put your cover back on fob. Carefully try to put the pieces in place by hands from top to bottom. Check your remote key fob body for gaps. If it is not firmly closed try to repeat last step.
