Simple steps to change the battery in your XF's remote key fob
A tiny coin cell battery installed in the your key fob. Remove any internal key first, and then try to pry apart the keyless entry remote.
Carefully try to disassemble your fob with flat head screwdriver. Remove 1xCR2032 battery with flat head screwdriver.
Get new battery and install it inside keyless entry fob's shell. Battery must be installed with the same polarity as was a previous. Your keyless entry remote will not work if you mistakenly put battery wrong way.
After the new battery installed, verify key fob functionality by pressing buttons. If everything working good, assemble your keyless entry fob's shell in reverse order.
At this point squeeze fob’s back cover together. Line your shell pieces together and assemble it in place by hands from top to bottom. Check your keyless entry remote case for gaps. If it is not firmly closed try to repeat last step.
